Duccio’s representation of the ‘Incredulity of St Thomas’ shows both the wonder of St Thomas and the peacefulness of Christ. As today’s Gospel tells us, ‘Jesus came and stood among them, and said, “Peace be with you.” Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here, and see my hands; and put out your hand, and place it in my side; do not be faithless, but believing.” Thomas answered him, “My Lord and my God!”’

The gaze between the two of them is remarkable – all is said there, though Thomas goes on to make his own declaration. May we, today, make our own declaration of faith, in whatever way we are guided, and may Our Lord Himself bless you and be very close to you this day.
