Here is part of today’s Gospel, from St Matthew: ‘And behold, a woman who had suffered from a haemorrhage for twelve years came up behind him and touched the fringe of his garment; for she said to herself, “If I only touch his garment, I shall be made well.” Jesus turned, and seeing her he said, “Take heart, daughter; your faith has made you well.” And instantly the woman was made well’.

The words ‘Take heart …’ mean literally, ‘take courage’. It has taken the unnamed woman all her courage to come this far, but she does not falter. In another account, Jesus knows that power has gone out of Him, and so he turns and sees the woman. Instantly she is healed.

In situations that trouble us, if we go with all our courage (which doesn’t mean feeling courageous!) to Our Lord, He will respond as only He can. May God bless you this day and keep you close to Himself.
