In today’s Gospel, Jesus gives instructions to His disciples, whom He is sending out: ‘Whatever town or village you enter, find out who is worthy in it, and stay with him until you depart. As you enter the house, salute it. And if the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it; but if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you’.

Peace – so much a Benedictine ideal, linked as it is to the vow and virtue of stability. It speaks of wholeness, and of a sense of rightness and quality of mercy.

In all that faces us, whether of stability or insecurity, may we know God’s peace; and may He bless us all.
