‘My house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples’. These words come from our Old Testament reading, from Isaiah, and they can also refer to the ‘house of prayer’ that is our heart. Pope St John Paul II said: ‘Remember that you are never alone, Christ is with you on your journey every day of your lives! He has called you and chosen you to live in the freedom of the children of God. Turn to Him in prayer and in love. Ask Him to grant you the courage and strength to live in this freedom always. Walk with Him who is “the Way, the Truth and the Life”’.

In our prayer, ‘all peoples’ can find refuge in our hearts as we centre ourselves upon the Sacred Heart of Jesus. There is no problem or challenge that is too onerous for Him – He has already carried it for us and will always do so.

May we trust him, and may God bless you this day.
