Today’s Gospel is the healing of the centurion’s servant, from St Luke. The centurion said to the Lord: ‘Lord, do not trouble yourself, for I am not worthy to have you come under my roof; therefore I did not presume to come to you. But say the word, and let my servant be healed’.

The Church has immortalised these words by placing them at the heart of the Eucharistic liturgy: ‘Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof; but only say the word, and my soul shall be healed’.

As we hear this Gospel, let us pray the words then and at the time of Holy Communion; and may God bless you and draw very close to you this day.
