Today is also the Optional Memoria of St Theodore of Canterbury. He was born in Tarsus about the year 602. In 668 he was appointed Archbishop of Canterbury, the seventh to hold this office and the first archbishop to govern the whole English Church. He is remembered for his work in organising dioceses and for his labours in reconciling Celtic and English traditions. He died in Canterbury on this day in 690.
In our own day, there are many tragic divisions. May St Theodore pray for us and for healing in our churches at this time. May God bless you this day.
