St Margaret Mary Alacoque, Visitandine nun of Paray-le-Monial was professed in 1672. Her visions of the Sacred Heart of Jesus have defined the devotion: ‘Behold this Heart, which has so loved men’. Her warmth and sanctity have inspired millions to follow her way. Those practising the devotion are encouraged to receive Holy Communion on the First Friday of the month, to make a Holy Hour on Thursdays, and to celebrate the Feast of the Sacred Heart, established as a result of her visions.

Today, may we spend some time in thanksgiving for St Margaret Mary and the beautiful gift that she is to the Church. May she pray for us, and may God bless you this day.
