The Church of St Cecilia in Trastevere in Rome is said to have been built over home of this Roman saint. She was martyred following the martyrdom of her husband, Valerian, and died by being struck on the neck with a sword. In 1599, her body was found to be still incorrupt. She is the patron saint of musicians, and is remembered in the Roman Canon of the Mass.

May she pray for us, as she sings her ‘new song’ to the Lord, and may God bless you this day.
