On 9 December 1531 and subsequently, Our Lady appeared to St Juan Diego on Mount Tepeyac in Mexico. During the fourth apparition, she asked him to gather flowers to take to the Bishop as a sign of the authenticity of the apparitions. On the top of the frozen hill, he found the most beautiful flowers, which he gathered in his tilma. On arrival at the Bishop’s house, he opened his tilma to show the flowers to the Bishop, and found the image of Our Lady imprinted on the tilma.

On 12 December that same year, Our Lady said to him: ‘Am I not here, I, who am your mother? Are you not under my shadow and protection? Am I not the source of your joy? Are you not in the hollow of my mantle, in the crossing of my arms? Do you need something more? Let nothing else worry you or disturb you’.

Let us take these beautiful words to heart, trusting Our Lady in all things; and may God shower you with blessings this day.
