Here is part of the liturgy for St John: ‘The Evangelist, surnamed Divine, Filled with the Spirit, as with wine, Like Eagle, speeding from the sky, Revealed to men the mystery, That Mary’s Child, the Woman’s Seed, Is God, the Word of God indeed’.

The same text tells is that John learned ‘the secrets of heaven’ as he leaned upon the breast of Christ at the Last Supper. It is in prayer, as we, too, lean upon the Lord’s breast, that we shall learn ‘the secrets of heaven’. Let us not be afraid to embark on this journey, and may God bless you in it.
