As our thoughts turn towards Lent, here is a verse from George Herbert’s poem, ‘Lent’, composed in 1633: ‘Who goeth in the way which Christ hath gone, / Is much more sure to meet with him, than one / That travelleth by-ways:/  Perhaps my God, though he be far before, / May turn, and take me by the hand, and more / May strengthen my decays’.

May Christ take you by the hand this Lent, and lead you along His way through the Cross and then to the glory of the resurrection. May He bless you this day also.
