Today’s Old Testament reading is taken from the Prayer of Repentance of the Prophet Daniel: ‘I prayed to the Lord my God and made confession, saying, “O Lord, the great and terrible God, who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, we have sinned and done wrong and acted wickedly and rebelled, turning aside from thy commandments and ordinances … To the Lord our God belong mercy and forgiveness; because we have rebelled against him, and have not obeyed the voice of the Lord our God by following his laws, which he set before us by his servants the prophets”’.

St Thérèse said, ‘What pleases Him is that He sees me loving my littleness and my poverty, the blind hope that I have in His mercy’. May we follow her way of total confidence, trust and love, putting all our hope in His mercy. May God bless you this day.
