As we approach the Passion, these words of Jeremiah from our Old Testament reading are most appropriate: ‘But the Lord is with me as a dread warrior; therefore my persecutors will stumble, they will not overcome me. They will be greatly shamed, for they will not succeed.
Their eternal dishonour will never be forgotten. O Lord of hosts, who triest the righteous, who seest the heart and the mind, let me see thy vengeance upon them, for to thee have I committed my cause’.

Here, Jeremiah prefigures Christ’s suffering, seen in the image below. His total surrender of Himself is also seen in the text, for to God He has committed his cause. As we walk the way of Passion, may we be drawn ever more deeply into the mystery of Christ’s love for us, and may He bless you this day.
