Fra Angelico’s Visitation gives us an image of today’s Feast, which is the occasion of Mary’s singing of the Magnificat for the first time. ‘My soul doth magnifiy the Lord: and my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.’ The two expectant mothers meet, and rejoice in each other. and Elizabeth exclaims; ‘Blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfilment of what was spoken to her from the Lord’.

Perhaps we might try composing our own ‘Magnificat’, in prayer and under the guidance of the Holy Spirit? Otherwise, may we try to find ways of expressing our joy in all that the Lord has done for us; and may God bless you this day.
