This Memoria could be said to refer to the interior life of the Mother of God. It is said that at the time of the Annunciation she was in prayer, and she was undoubtedly in prayer as she stood by the Cross of her dying Son. She also lives out that purity of heart which was later to be the subject of a Beatitude spoken by her Son: ‘Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God’. Surely He was thinking of His Mother at that point.

May her purity of heart be an example to us as we seek to follow her in humility, trust and love, and may her Son bless you this day.
