Here are a few lines from our Gospel reading, from St John: ‘After this many of his disciples drew back and no longer went about with him. Jesus said to the twelve, “Will you also go away?” Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life; and we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God.”

The question ‘Will you also go away?’ is addressed to each one of us: whether we will be faithful, or turn away. Peter has the answer – Our Lord indeed has the words of eternal life, and he and the other apostles have come to know who Jesus is: the Holy One of God.

Do we know Jesus in this way? Perhaps today is a time to sit quietly and ask ourselves the question. May we know the grace of the Holy Spirit to guide our reflections, that we may draw closer to the Lord; and may God bless you this day.
