Our first Mass reading is the third Servant Song of Isaiah; here is part of it: ‘The Lord God helps me; therefore I have not been confounded; therefore I have set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be put to shame; he who vindicates me is near. Who will contend with me? Let us stand up together. Who is my adversary? Let him come near to me’.

Christ the Servant washed the feet of His disciples, before His death on the Cross for our redemption. His face was indeed ‘set like a flint’ in His determination to go for us to the end, in love.

May He, the Servant Christ, be with us this day, assisting us in all the events of our lives, and in our service of others; and may God bless you this day.
