St Paul of the Cross, 1694-1775, was the founder of the Congregation of the Passion, whose members had a special devotion to Our Lord’s Passion. They were committed to preaching the Passion, and to keeping alive the ‘Memory’ of that redeeming event. The Passionist emblem, shown below, is engraved on each of the two ‘pillars’ of our altar, the significance being that Blessed Dominic Barberi, and other Passionist priests, once lived here.

St Paul of the Cross once wrote: ‘Build an oratory within yourself, and there have Jesus on the altar of your heart. Speak to Him often while you are doing your work. Speak to Him of His holy love, of His holy sufferings and of the sorrows of most holy Mary’.

May St Paul of the Cross pray for us, in whatever crosses we are called to undergo, and may God bless you this day.
