From our New Testament reading, from Ephesians: ‘To me, though I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, and to make all men see what is the plan of the mystery hidden for ages in[b] God who created all things …’
St Jerome commented: ‘Unsearchable and hidden can be given two senses. The riches were previously unable to be searched out. They are now laid open after the Lord’s Passion. Another sense, perhaps even better: Those things which by nature were unsearchable to humanity are the ones that have been made known by God’s revelation’. These riches are those of the love of God, poured out in the Lord’s Passion.
Let us adore Him, then, and make known His love to all to whom God sends us. May God bless you today in so doing.
