This sixteenth century Italian Cardinal was a leading figure of the Counter- Reformation. He was known for his establishing of seminaries for the formation of priests.

He said: ‘If a tiny spark of God’s love already burns within you, do not expose it to the wind, for it may get blown out. Keep the stove tightly shut so that it will not lose its heat and grow cold. In other words, avoid distractions as well as you can’.

Distractions can take many forms, including conversations that draw us away from our true centre. Today, perhaps we can take care that our every word comes from our heart and builds up whatever situation we find ourselves in.

May God bless you in this, today.
