As Benedictines, we keep the Memoria of All Saints of the Benedictine Order on this day, the Octave Day of All Saints. The name of the day leads in very well to our New Testament reading for the day, at the Ferial Mass, from Philippians: ‘But our commonwealth is in heaven, and from it we await a Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will change our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power which enables him even to subject all things to himself’.

The ’commonwealth’ that is in heaven, contains, among others, Benedictines, some known but perhaps mostly unknown, who have ‘cherish[ed] Christ above all’, and who now live and praise in heaven.

May they pray for us, and may God bless you in your own way of life today.
