From our Gospel reading, from St Luke: ‘Being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God was coming, he answered them, “The kingdom of God is not coming with signs to be observed; nor will they say, ‘Lo, here it is!’ or ‘There!’ for behold, the kingdom of God is in the midst of you.”’

St Bede the Venerable wrote; ‘The kingdom of God means that He Himself is placed in the midst of them, that is, reigning in their hearts by faith’. These words speak of the hiddenness of the Kingdom of God in the human heart, set there in Baptism. In prayer we have the opportunity to adore Him at any time.

Let us make this a daily practice – ‘unceasing prayer’ as it is known – and may you be greatly blessed in so doing.
