St Cecilia, a Roman belonging to a noble family, was martyred during the reign of Marcus Aurelius. The basilica named in her honour was built on the site of her family home. She is the patron saint of musicians, and is often portrayed in sacred heart with a musical instrument. The image below, in the public domain, is by the Master of the Brunswick Diptych.

As we sing in our hearts, or in worship, may St Cecilia sing with us; and may God bless you this day.
