The fourteenth century Byzantine icon shown below is in the public domain, and shows St Andrew, known as the ‘First-called’, holding a scroll. He looks intently over to his left, presumably towards his Lord. He is said to have been martyred on a diagonal cross in Greece, but no date is known. He is patron saint of Scotland, and so we pray today specially for that beautiful country.

May St Andrew pray for us, that we may truly follow the Gospel of Christ, and may God bless you this day.
