From today’s Gospel, from St John: ‘And for their sake I consecrate myself, that they also may be consecrated in truth’.

‘For their sake I consecrate myself’ is also the title of a book by Jadwiga Stabinska, about a young Polish religious called Sr Maria Bernadette of the Cross. She offered her life in reparation, and her prayer was heard, like that of her Lord.

Her consecration was lived out in a dramatic way, but our offering to God can also be lived out in the simplicity of the ordinary. May God bless your own offering this day, and be very close to you.
