St Martin of Tours, a monastic founder as well as a Bishop, is an important person for us, hence his liturgical celebration as a Feast. He was the first person not a martyr to be liturgically recognised in the calendar of the Church, and he is known to have founded the Benedictine monastery of Ligugé in France.
