The saints commemorated today are the Vietnamese martyrs, put to death in the nineteenth century. It is estimated that they numbered one hundred and seventeen. Courageous in the extreme, their legacy continues in the lives of countless Vietnamese priests and faithful throughout the world.

May the Vietnamese martyrs pray for us, that we also will show that same courage in the face of opposition; and may God bless you this day.
