Here is part of our Old Testament reading, from the prophecy of Zephaniah: ‘Seek the Lord, all you humble of the land, who do his commands; seek righteousness, seek humility …’
In the Rule of our Holy Father St Benedict, one of the first requirements for a newcomer to the Community is that they ‘truly seek God’. In one sense this is the whole task of the monastic, and it is worked out in many ways in daily life, not only in prayer. It is also the task of anyone who is a serious believer. It is a task that never ends, for as we grow in Christ, the journey of seeking God deepens until it takes over our entire life, bringing all aspects into a profound unity.
May each one of us grow in Christ, seeking Him continually, and may God bless you this day.
