Here is part of our Old Testament reading, from Deuteronomy: ‘Behold, I have taught you statutes and ordinances, as the Lord my God commanded me, that you should do them in the land which you are entering to take possession of it. Keep them and do them; for that will be your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples, who, when they hear all these statutes, will say, ‘Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.’ (Deuteronomy 4:5-6)
‘Keep them and do them …’ We are to guard the words of the Lord carefully in our heart. However, they are not to remain there, left neglected upon the shelf as it were, but God gives us His words that we may apply them and do them. This is our work, which the Holy Spirit brings to life in us, so that we may come to the dawn of a new way of being. May God bless you this day.
