Today we begin to approach the great Solemnity of Pentecost, and await the descent of the Holy Spirit in our world and in our lives. As St Paul expressed it: ‘Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with sighs too deep for words.’ (Romans 8:26)

Let us open our souls more and more deeply to God’s Spirit, the Spirit of love, joy and peace.  We may wish to attend a Pentecost Vigil, or spend time in quiet and reflection to prepare for the Solemnity.
