Today is also the Optional Memoria of St Augustine Zhao Rong and Companions, Martyrs.

On this day, about 120 Chinese martyrs are commemorated, who died between 1648 and 1930. St Augustine Zhao Rong, a diocesan priest, was martyred in 1815, and others lost their lives at different times and in different places. Their beatifications took place at varying times, but all were canonised by Pope St John Paul in 2000.

May they pray for us, and may God bless you this day.
