St Cuthbert lived from approximately 634 till 687. He is strongly associated with the island of Lindisfarne, which lies just off the coast near Berwick-on-Tweed in Northumberland. After his death he was originally buried at Lindisfarne, but his body was later moved to Durham Cathedral, where it now rests and is a place of pilgrimage.
