St Thérèse of the Child Jesus added the name ‘and of the Holy Face’ to her existing name on 12 August 1895. She wrote: ‘These words of Isaiah, “Who has believed our report? …There is no beauty in Him, no comeliness…” have been the whole foundation of my devotion to the Holy Face, or, to express it better, the foundation of my whole piety. I also have desired to be without beauty, to tread the winepress alone, unknown to every creature.”’ (St Thérèse, from ‘The Last Conversations’)

The image below is in the public domain, and shows an engraving of the Holy Face.

May St Thérèse teach us the wisdom and blessing of the Holy Face; and may God bless you this day.
