The name of today’s saint, James, is often linked with those of Peter and John, as those closest to our Lord. These were the three whom He called to witness the Transfiguration and to be present in Gethsemane; and James was the first Apostle to die for his Lord.

He is seen here holding his pilgrimage staff in his hand – the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela is named for him – and his shrine is in the Cathedral of that city.

May he pray for us, and may God bless you this day.
